Feb Chapter Meeting - Wed 02/27/2019 @ 5:30pm

Wednesday, February 27, 2019 -
5:30pm to 7:00pm

Speaker: Olajide Ajayi

Topic:  Practical Use Cases of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Healthcare

Abstract: The concept of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the Healthcare sector is gaining a lot of momentum. We plan to discuss in detail some of the strides achieved within the last one year at Blue Cross NC in this space. Three main use cases worth noting are: 1.Artificial Intelligence Mammography Model and Healthcare Savings Opportunity. 2. Claims Denial Rate Analysis.  3. Group Win-Loss Artificial Intelligence Rapid Prototyping. All the algorithms used in developing models includes Genetic Programming, Classification Trees, Multivariate Statistics - Discriminant Analysis and Artificial Neural Network Algorithm via Support Vector Machines/Random Forest approach resulting in high sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. The findings from these research using various packages in R were intended to be deployed in a parallel run with human overrides due to limited success stories using some of these models. Attempts will be made to incorporate full project planning approaches to this type of research; right from requirement gathering session to execution and implementation in our discussion.

Bio: Olajide graduated from The Ohio State University, Columbus with a Master’s degree in Statistics (Minor in Biostatistics and Epidemiology) in March 2009 and joined JPMorgan Chase as a Business Analyst. While at Chase he developed several predictive models in the fraud department as well as forecasting for process optimization. Prior to coming to the US, he worked in the banking sector in West Africa as an investment banker with special interest in treasury bills and zero coupon bonds. He worked with Cardinal Health Inc. and Health Management Systems Corp. briefly before joining Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC. Currently, Olajide is Senior Data Scientist with Blue Cross with Areas of Interest and Specialization including: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Design of Experiments, Game Theory, Multivariate Analysis, Operations Research, Optimization, Statistical Computing, Statistical Genetics, Statistical Physics, Statistical Process Control, Stochastic Processes, Time Series and Other Statistical Techniques. He has attended and delivered talks at conferences locally [Research Triangle Analysts: - Analytics Forward 2018, Durham, NC, March 10, 2018] and nationally [SAS Conference 2016 – Las Vegas].He is a member of the American Statistical Association - since 2006 and Six Sigma Yellow Belt certified.
