Topic: Business Intelligence: Scope, Underlying Competencies and Approaches
Abstract : The Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) 3.0 has added a section on Business Intelligence (BI) Perspectives. Business intelligence is the practice of transforming data into value-added information that can be used to support strategic decisions at the executive level, tactical decisions at the managerial level and operational decisions at the process level. We will discuss the unique characteristics of business analysis when practiced in the world of business intelligence.
Bio:
Felicia Joyner has over two decade of experience as a Business Analyst. She is a utility player providing strategy for a number of Deloitte & Touche Initiatives. She currently serves as a Business Analyst and Product Owner and Product Manager for a Deloitte's Transparency offering. She excels in vendor assessment and management.
At Salix Pharmaceuticals and Biogen Pharmaceuticals she successfully ushered in Business Intelligence initiatives. Felicia performed the following roles
- Definition of requirements and assessment of solutions
- Classification of source systems data to be used for analytical purposes and
- Data architecture defining the source and target data structures
Felicia has a Master of Science in Computer Information systems and earned the Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) designation through the International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA). Felicia enjoys reading fiction and non-fiction, playing board games and swimming.
