State of the Chapter – IIBA RTP Raleigh (2026)

This year, our chapter has demonstrated what it truly means to be a vibrant, resilient, and future‑focused community of Business Analysts. Our challenge was to continue the momentum of our chapter from past presidents and prepare for our chapter’s future. As a result of our work, we stand on a foundation strengthened by the dedication of our volunteers, the momentum of our members, and the strategic alliances that continue to expand our reach across North Carolina and beyond.
A Growing, Thriving Community
We began 2026 with strong energy and have only accelerated. Membership has grown to nearly 150 active members, with 16 new members joining us in the first quarter alone. Our certification community continues to shine—over 113 certifications are represented across our chapter, and more than 30 members are actively pursuing their next credential. This is not just growth; it is transformation. It reflects a chapter where professional development is not an aspiration but a lived experience.
Professional Development at the Center
Our monthly chapter meetings planned by our VP Education, Tina Ewing have delivered exceptional value. From Anne Hartley’s value‑focused delivery insights, to Thea Soehren and Aaron Whittenberger’s collaborative stakeholder games, to Dr. Tracie Edwards’ career advancement strategies, our programming has been rich, relevant, and deeply aligned with the evolving BA profession.
We introduced a new format, including a Lunch & Learn session, and continued our BABOK‑centered discussions at every meeting—ensuring that our members stay connected to the core competencies of our discipline.
Certification Excellence
Under the leadership of our Director of Certification, John Ellis, we hosted a dedicated Certification Excellence session that clarified pathways, exam changes, and strategies for success. Members shared their journeys, challenges, and triumphs—reinforcing that certification is not just an exam, but a community-supported milestone.
Volunteer Leadership & Operational Strength
This year, we expanded our volunteer staff with new roles in education, membership, marketing operations, and professional education support. We welcomed new volunteers to manage chapter events end‑to‑end, ensuring seamless experiences for our members.
Our board has remained committed to operational improvement. We have been strengthening processes, improving communications, and ensuring that every volunteer has the tools and support needed to succeed. The chapter’s financial operations have stabilized under Treasurer Lori Stewart, with improved reporting, banking transitions, and exploration of new revenue strategies.
Strategic Partnerships & Community Alliances
2026 has been a landmark year for partnerships. We collaborated with:
ElevateRTP for an in‑person leadership summit which is local to the North Carolina Triangle area.
Unleash Your Potential / BADD 2026 for a multi‑chapter professional development conference
Bluegrass, Tampa Bay and Palmetto for joint events, raffles, and learning opportunities
IEEE Young Professionals for emerging cross‑disciplinary collaboration
These alliances have expanded our reach, diversified our programming, and strengthened our position as a regional leader in Business Analysis development.
Marketing, Visibility, and Member Engagement
Our marketing and membership teams have amplified our presence across LinkedIn, our website, and partner channels. We’ve shared certification wins, promoted events, and highlighted member stories. We’ve also begun evaluating our largest marketing expense to ensure that every dollar supports meaningful engagement and chapter growth.
A Chapter Built on Value, Community, and Momentum
Everything we’ve accomplished this year reflects the heart of our mission:

We have fortified our foundation. We have cultivated strategic alliances. We have fueled innovation through diversified value. We have trained BAs professionally. We have built "Community".
And we have done it together.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare for elections and the next phase of chapter leadership, we do so with confidence. Our volunteers are strong. Our programs are impactful. Our partnerships are expanding. Our members are engaged and advancing.
